The Week of Your Dreams!
For “summercators” of yesteryear, vacationing meant “taking in” the cool, crisp air of northern New England’s pristine countryside. You too can spend an unforgettable week visiting New England’s most picturesque spots, like the weathered, sea side villages in Maine and New Hampshire, the spectacular mountain vistas framing the Trapp Lodge, or the verdant valley that hosts the Vermont Quilt Festival—this is the week of your dreams!

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome
Arrive at your leisure into Boston's Logan Airport. Our downtown hotel is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk of the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and the waterfront. Our welcome meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. to allow plenty of time for you to enjoy dinner on your own. (Welcome Meeting)

Day 2 - Down East
Our journey together begins as we board our coach for a tour of historic Boston. As our coach traverses the old, narrow streets, you’ll view the Old North Church, the U.S.S. Constitution, the Boston Massacre site, the Tea Party Ship... and more.

Then we’re headed “down-east” to Freeport, the number one destination for visitors to Maine. From the first name in the great outdoors to the last word in international fashion; from the hustle bustle of Main Street to the salty quiet of the town wharves, some of the best things in life are in Freeport Maine. We’ll have plenty of time this afternoon to explore the legendary L.L. Bean flagship store, and outlet shop, as well as over 150 eclectic boutiques and speciality shops. A perfect way to end the day might be a visit to the old Jameson Tavern known as the “Birthplace of Maine” where weathered wooden tables have been serving folks since the 1800’s.

Later this afternoon we’ll be checking into our Freeport hotel, our home for the next two nights. (C. Breakfast)

Day 3 - Lobsters & Lighthouses
We’ll begin our day with a morning visit to the charming Knights Quilt Shop where room after room is filled with fabrics, notions and patterns…and they are having a “Private Sale” just for us!

Then we’re off to Kennebunkport where we’ll view the grand old summer “mansions,” including the 11 acre estate of former President Bush. You’ll spend this afternoon at leisure, where perhaps you’ll explore this cozy, sea-side town whose streets are lined with white clapboard cottages and picket fences. Or relax over lunch at one of the ocean side cafes, where gentle ocean breezes seem to whisk your cares away.

This evening you’ll savor the unforgettable taste of our traditional Maine lobster bake. (C. Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 4 - The Trapp Family
Rise and shine for it’s time to visit The Keepsake Quilt Shop, honored as one of the 10 favorite quilt shops in America. Step inside this quilter’s paradise, and you’re immediately inspired by the hundreds of quilts covering the walls and ceiling. Then shop from over 8000 different fabrics, hundreds of books on quilts and needlecrafts, cross-stitch and needlepoint supplies, and one of the largest collections of fine knitting yarns in the Northeast.

This afternoon our coach travels into the mountains of Vermont, which look so much like the Austrian Alps, it’s easy to see why the Baron von Trapp family built their famous guest house here. In true Bavarian style, the trademark window boxes of the Trapp Family Lodge are brimming with red geraniums and white petunias, and hanging baskets festoon the balconies that overlook the mountains.

All this will be your’s to enjoy during our 2-night stay here…ahh heavenly!

In the tradition of olde-world-style hospitality, we invite you to join us this evening for a hearty multi-course meal. Afterward, enjoy a stroll through the open meadows, breathing in the cool mountain air...you may even find yourself humming a note or two from the Sound of Music (the story of the von Trapp family.)
(C Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 5 - Vermont's "Smithsonian"
Our journey this morning takes us to a quiet corner of Vermont, where nestled near Lake Champlain is the extraordinary Shelburne Museum Village. Inside barns, farmhouses, and New England-style shops you’ll find treasures of every description. Art by Rembrandt, Monet, Wyeth, Degas, Grandma Moses, and Currier and Ives; a collection of thousands of needlework pieces; rare dolls and dollhouses; vintage ball gowns, toys, weathervanes, carousel and cigar store figures, bandboxes, shadowboxes...and the largest collection of early American quilts in the world!

We’ll return to the Trapp Family Lodge for a bountiful dinner, and afterward, perhaps you’ll relax in the richly paneled sitting room, or enjoy the indoor swimming pool, exercise room, and sauna. Wherever you find yourself in the lodge, there’s always a view of the long horizon of peaceful mountains. ( Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 6 - Mountains of Quilts
Waking up in the mountains of Vermont is magical. Perhaps you’ll arise early and visit the inn’s private gardens, where you can explore the enchanting cutting garden, abundant with flowers used for arrangements throughout the inn, and a bountiful kitchen and herb garden.

Our journey today takes us to the Vermont Quilt Festival. This is New England’s largest quilt show, combining vintage quilts gathered from attics across New England with a collection of dazzling contest quilts. You’ll also find great shopping at the merchants mall which offers quilt and needlework supplies of every kind.

Packages in hand we’re ready for a relaxing ride into the foothills of the Green Mountains and into the yesterday town of Woodstock, Vermont. This charming, 200 year-old town has changed little through the years. Along the main street are shops showcasing antique linens and laces, and native stoneware pottery.

This evening we'll check into our lovely New Hampshire hotel where we'll enjoy a final night farewell dinner. (Breakfast) (Dinner)

Day 7 - Past Times & Pushcarts
We’ll journey back in time this morning to visit a mill city that was “woven” into the tapestry of America’s textile revolution. As we pass through the iron mill-yard gates at Lowell, Massachusetts we retrace the steps of 2000 “mill girls” who passed this way each day in the 1800s. During its heyday “Spindle City”, as it was known, produced a million yards of cloth each week. We’ll enter a turn-of-the-century bank building that is now home to the New England Quilt Museum for a private tour of their current exhibit.

Later our coach travels back to Boston’s old port area where we’ll visit Faneuil Hall Marketplace, a mecca of international food stalls and pushcarts piled high with wares.

All too soon our week together has ended and we are arriving at Boston’s airport, and then back to our starting hotel for guests staying additional time. (C. Breakfast)
