Day 1
Arrive Charleston – Tour Begins
Browse Charleston’s Old Marketplace on your own to find local crafts and watch Gullah ladies weave sweetgrass baskets as generations have before them. Meet your Tour Manager and traveling companions at tonight’s Kick-off Welcome Meeting.
Day 2
Charleston – Summerville
After a hearty Southern breakfast, set out for America’s only tea plantation. Our tour of the Charleston Tea Garden teaches us firsthand how tea is made during a fascinating Field and Factory Tour. After sampling teas, depart for Summerville, the “Birthplace of Sweet Tea,” to shop for fabrics at People, Places & Quilts where a 19th-century hardware store overflows with fabrics, patterns and kits. Witness Colonial and Victorian homes with intricate wrought-iron fences on an evening carriage ride through Charleston’s historic gas-lit streets. B
Day 3
Charleston – Savannah
Experience Southern heritage on a guided tour of the historic Boone Hall Plantation. After exploring the mansion and gardens, travel to Savannah and discover the historic City Market, a four-block open-air marketplace filled with restaurants and boutiques. Shop and dine on your own this evening in this most picturesque of Southern cities. B
Day 4
Savannah
Glimpse Savannah’s sultry past through its antebellum architecture, fountains, and leafy squares as we wind our way through the narrow streets on our narrated trolley tour. Step inside the Davenport House on a guided tour and learn how this 1820 home narrowly avoided demolition and gave birth to the Historic Savannah Foundation. Explore Savannah’s 22 historic squares at leisure before tucking into an old-fashioned Southern supper at a handpicked local restaurant. B, D
Day 5
Savannah – St. Simons Island – Jekyll Island
Begin at Savannah’s oldest quilt store, Sew Much More, where more than 3,500 bolts include batiks, lace, and heirloom fabrics for you to browse. Enjoy lunch on your own before our city tour of beautiful St. Simons Island. A warm welcome awaits at the jewel of Jekyll Island, the Jekyll Island Club Hotel & Resort, our home for the next two nights. This National Historic Landmark is adorned with Tiffany’s leaded glass in the Grand Dining Room and is perfect for enjoying an evening at leisure with a mint julep. B
Day 6
Jekyll Island
After breakfast, embark on the Jekyll Island Tram Ride to learn about the rich history of this island known as a Millionaires’ Playground. After a visit to the Georgia Sea Turtle Sanctuary, your afternoon at leisure can be filled with some croquet, a beach stroll to gather seashells, or live-oak forests visit for a walk. Celebrate this incredible vacation at tonight’s Jekyll Island Club Farewell Dinner. B, D
Day 7
Jekyll Island – Jacksonville
A visit to Cinnamon’s Quilt Shoppe, a Quilt Sampler Top 10 Shop, lets you browse for last-minute patterns and notions before swapping addresses with friends and saying goodbye at Jacksonville’s Airport. B
