Day 1

New England’s spectacular fall foliage is legendary!  Steepled churches and white-washed villages nestle among rolling hills, farmhouses sit amidst fields of ripening pumpkins, orchards of shiny red apples await pressing into cider. Share the anticipation with your traveling companions and your Tour Manager at tonight’s Welcome Meeting.

Day 2

Boston – Manchester

Your journey begins as we visit the New England Quilt Museum, whose collection includes the area’s finest quilts. Later we continue into New Hampshire’s crossing over the river and through the woods where a lunch of the season awaits us at a 200 year-old shingled cottage known as Pickety Place. Afterward be sure to visit the gardens dedicated to fragrance, flavor, and witches’ herbs. B, L

Day 3

Manchester – Canterbury – Center Harbor – Burlington

This morning we travel to a peaceful hilltop Shaker Village where time seems to have stood still. We’ll tour their simple dwellings and visit with craftspeople who still produce Shaker products.  Later we’ll visit Keepsake Quilting, America’s largest quilt shop, where you’ll be dazzled by the hundreds of quilts on display, and the thousands of bolts of fabrics, books and needlework supplies. B

Day 4

An unforgettable morning awaits us as we drive through Vermont’s lush Green Mountains, where the extraordinary Shelburne Museum overlooks Lake Champlain. Here you’ll explore yesterday’s New England in gardens and dozens of vintage homes, barns and shops filled with rare needlework, dolls, dollhouses and paintings by artists as diverse as Wyeth, Monet and Grandma Moses. Then lose yourself in the world’s largest collection of early American quilts. This evening enjoy a harvest dinner as our sunset cruise sails on Lake Champlain. B, D

Day 5

Burlington – Woodstock – Ogunquit

This morning we visit the turn-of-the-century village of Woodstock, Vermont. Browse in country stores showcasing antique linens and laces, quilts and local pottery, before wending through the colorful New England countryside to the Maine Coast. B

Day 6

Ogunquit – Kennebunkport – York – Ogunquit

Imagine awakening to sounds of the sea in an ocean-side hotel in Ogunquit, Maine, then exploring village streets lined with white clapboard cottages and picket fences. Inhale the fragrance of beach roses as you stroll an ocean path to wharf-side cafes and artisan shops.  This afternoon we pay a visit to Knight’s Quilt Shop before celebrating our journey at our Farewell Dinner. B, D

Day 7

Ogunquit – Boston

Tour Boston’s narrow streets to see historic Old North Church, the Tea Party Ship and the pushcarts of Faneuil Hall Marketplace before saying goodbye to your new friends at the airport. B
