Day 1

Arrive Boston – Tour Begins

New England’s spectacular fall foliage is legendary! Steepled churches and white-washed villages nestle among rolling hills painted in red and gold leaves. Farmhouses sit amidst fields of ripening pumpkins, and orchards of shiny red apples await pressing into cider. Share the anticipation with your traveling companions and your Tour Manager at tonight’s Welcome Meeting in Boston.

Day 2

Boston – Lowell – Manchester

Traveling to Lowell, Massachusetts, tucked into the textile mill buildings is the New England Quilt Museum, where their collection of 19th-century quilts is waiting to be admired. Next, continue over the river and through the woods to a 200-year-old cottage in New Hampshire, where a lunch of the season awaits us at Pickity Place. Afterward, stroll through the gardens dedicated to fragrance, flavor and witches’ herbs. B, L

Day 3

Manchester – Canterbury – Burlington

Enjoy views of rolling countryside as you journey to the peaceful hilltop of Canterbury Shaker Village where time seems to have stood still. Our guided tour of the village reveals their simple approach to living and lifestyle. After shopping for Shaker boxes, enjoy a homemade lunch at their farm-to-table café. Next, we’ll step from this tranquil scene into the exciting colors of Quilted Threads to be dazzled by the quilts and endless bolts of heavenly quilting cottons. Later, check into our downtown Burlington hotel, our home for two nights. B

Day 4

Burlington

An unforgettable morning awaits as we drive through Vermont’s lush Green Mountains, where the extraordinary Shelburne Museum overlooks Lake Champlain. Here, you’ll explore yesterday’s New England in gardens and dozens of vintage homes, barns and shops filled with rare needlework, dolls and dollhouses, and paintings by artists as diverse as Wyeth, Monet and Grandma Moses. Then lose yourself in one of the country’s finest collections of early American quilts. You’ll have time to stroll Burlington’s lively downtown before savoring a farm-to-fork meal at this evening’s included dinner. B, D

Day 5

Burlington – Woodstock – Ogunquit

On our morning visit to the turn-of-the-century village of Woodstock, Vermont, we can browse at leisure in country stores showcasing antique linens and laces, quilts and local pottery. After snapping photos of the covered bridge, dine at one of the cozy cafés or restaurants for lunch before wending our way through the colorful New England countryside to the legendary Maine Coast. B

Day 6

Ogunquit – York

Wake to sounds of the sea at our oceanside hotel in Ogunquit, Maine, then explore village streets lined with white clapboard cottages, picket fences, shops and boutiques. Inhale the fragrance of beach roses as you stroll the Marginal Way to wharfside cafés and artisan shops. This afternoon, visit Kennebunkport for some last-minute shopping before celebrating our journey at our customary Farewell Lobster Dinner. B, D

Day 7

Ogunquit – Boston – Tour Ends

Before saying goodbye to new friends, tour Boston’s narrow streets witnessing famous sites, including the Old North Church, the Old State House and the pushcarts of Faneuil Hall Marketplace. B
