Arrive in Memphis and check into Graceland Guest House, our home for two nights in the heart of Elvis’s Graceland. Meet our tour director at the Evening Welcome Meeting.
After breakfast (included daily), visit the Cotton Museum in the historic Memphis Cotton Exchange for a look at the city’s history, then board the nation’s only music bus for a Memphis Mojo Tour, a 2-hour musical journey guided by a professional Beale Street musician who’ll play and sing while sharing behind-the-scenes stories from the city’s rich musical heritage. After downtown lunch on your own, see Elvis’s pink Cadillac, iconic outfits and gold records on a Graceland Elvis Experience Tour. Dinner tonight is included.
Ride through scenic countryside to Paducah to shop at the original Hancock’s of Paducah before the crowds arrive at this immense fabric and sewing supplies emporium. Don’t miss the great sale tables! On a Paducah City Tour admire the Floodwall Murals, celebrating the city’s history. Enjoy a leisurely dinner in downtown Paducah, where your hotel for the next four nights is located.
Spend the day reveling in needle arts at the American Quilter’s Society new Fall Paducah Quilt Show. Marvel at quilts from around the world along with every imaginable quilting-related accessory. Merchants display fabrics from calicos to rare hand-painted silks, plus notions, trims, books, patterns and finished works. At this evening’s All Star Review, learn new techniques at demonstrations by leading artists, then meet instructors to buy patterns and autographed books.
After a morning at the Quilt Show, visit the National Quilt Museum to see exceptional quilt and fiber art from the museum’s collections of over 600 quilts. After dinner the AQS offers their popular Evening with a Quilting Star, when a high-profile quilt artist shares their story.
Create a Barn Quilt Square at this morning’s Make & Take Class, then spend the afternoon making final purchases at the Quilt Show. Compare treasures and experiences with new friends during our Farewell Dinner at Patti’s 1800’s Settlement in a log cabin village.
On the way to Nashville we’ll stop at Whitehaven, a magnificent 1860s mansion featuring period furnishings, and pose for pictures with fellow quilt-lovers before saying goodbye at the Nashville Airport.
