Nashville – Paducah
We’re off to Paducah, Kentucky to shop ahead of the crowds at the original Hancock Fabric Store, advertised as the nation’s largest. The cavernous warehouse stocks thousands of fabrics, plus notions, books, trims, patterns…and great “Sale” tables. We’ll check into our convenient hotel just minutes from the granddaddy of all quilt shows. Tonight enjoy a sneak preview of legendary QuiltWeek Paducah and its vendors before it opens to the public. B
It’s opening day at the American Quilters Society show and contest! Spend it admiring hundreds of quilts on display and shopping for antique quilts, wearable art, books, craft and sewing supplies, fabrics, buttons, trims, patterns…and more! B, D
Return to the show at leisure (your ticket is included), join a pre-booked class or explore Quilt City U.S.A., where shops join in a town-wide celebration. From the old 5&10 to the candy shop, windows throughout this turn-of-the-century town are decorated with quilts. Join quilters and crafters from around the world for trolley rides, sidewalk sales, church bazaars and shopping for local crafts, antiques and collectibles. B,
Ready for more? The annual Rotary Club Quilt Show displays about 40 antique quilts, and vendors are carefully selected for discriminating shoppers. During your afternoon at leisure, perhaps visit the National Quilt Museum (your admission is pre-paid) showcasing over 200 quilts. Tonight exchange addresses with your new travel friends at our savory Farewell Dinner. B, D
Paducah – Nashville
Returning to Nashville, visit Opryland Hotel’s massive domed conservatories where winding tree-draped pathways lead past waterfalls and meandering waterways. Over two acres of Conservatory Gardens are devoted solely to tropical plants and another two are filled with a waterfall cascading into a 12,000-square-foot indoor lake. B
