Day 6:       Hampton Inn Pearl District, Portland, Oregon

The highlight of this week is Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, the world’s largest, where the entire town becomes a stage. After shop hops and admiring early needlework collections, you’ll see why Portland is called The City of Roses.

Day 1

Portland

Discover the city on your own from our elegant Pearl District hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. Meet your friendly Tour Manager and traveling companions at tonight’s Welcome Meeting.

Day 2

Portland

Experience Portland’s friendly, small-town warmth as we visit local shops filled with fabric, needlework and quilt supplies on our local shop-hop.  Load up on famous Pendleton wool yarns and fabrics, or rummage the multicolored selvage and blanket trimmings (wooly worms!) on our Pendleton Woolen Mill Store visit. Tonight you can savor Portland’s delicious food scene or visit the famous Voodoo Doughnuts with your evening at leisure. B

Day 3

Portland – Tillamook – Cannon Beach – Portland

In a restored wooden schoolhouse, Latimer Quilt & Textile Center showcases unique early needlework: mid-19th century quilts, hand-woven coverlets, and early-1900s crochet and hand-weaving. Browse the library of old needlework pamphlets and the shop featuring vintage and hand-dyed fabrics, books and handwork. Sample Oregon’s fabled coastline at Cannon Beach, lined with handcrafts shops and galleries. Stroll the beach to see fantastically shaped driftwood and fog-shrouded islands populated by nesting seabirds. The local quilt shop specializes in gorgeous 100% cotton fabrics, patterns and notions. B

Day 4

Portland – Sisters – Bend

Our journey over the Cascade Mountains to Sisters begins with a visit to the areas beloved quilt shop, Pioneer Quilts. In the Cascade’s foothills, Sisters Main Street of frontier stores looks like a classic cowboy movie set. Before crowds arrive for tomorrow’s outdoor quilt show indulge in some shopping at the Stitchin’ Post quilt shop. Admire stunning displays by legendary quilt artists, then savor dinner before nestling into a lecture at the Quilter’s Affair Main Event.  B, L, D

Day 5

Bend – Sisters – Bend

Welcome to Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, where quilts appear everywhere … hung on buildings, over balconies, in windows, draped over fences—this is the world’s largest outdoor quilt show like an old-fashioned country fair. After visiting the area’s best-loved quilt shops on our shop hop, relax at our downtown Bend hotel just steps from the boutiques and eateries that line the cozy Main Street. B

Day 6

Bend – Mt. Hood – Hood River – Portland

Enjoy forests and rich farmlands on the way north toward Mount Hood’s majestic range. We’ll stop in the Fruit Loop at a local farm stand before arriving at the breathtaking Multnomah Falls. This evening, swap addresses with new friends at our Farewell Dinner.  B, D

Day 7

Portland

Visit the fabulous International Rose Test Garden, America’s oldest, and wander through four fragrant acres to admire 400-plus varieties and 10,000 bushes in this Elizabethan-style garden. It’s a fitting farewell to the City of Roses as we say goodbye at the Portland International Airport. B
