Day 1
San Antonio
Welcome to our historic downtown San Antonio hotel, just a short walk to adobe shops offering local antiques and art, as well as river cafés that line the lush downtown RiverWalk. Tonight meet your Tour Manager and travel mates at our Welcome Meeting.
Day 2
San Antonio
Begin the day at The Alamo learning about Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie. Next, board our private riverboat for an excursion down the Paseo Del Rio, cruising under a canopy of cypress trees and arched footbridges. After a casual lunch on own, our local expert will guide us through San Antonio’s newest neighborhood, The Pearl District. You’ll have free time to explore the artisan shops of La Villita or pony up to the same spot the Rough Riders drank at in The Menger Bar. Tonight enjoy dinner at one of the colorful restaurants lining the historic River Walk. B
Day 3
San Antonio – Fredericksburg – San Antonio
This morning, we’ll visit Creations quilt shop! Here, shelves and cabinets are filled with fabrics, including Texas prints and hand-dyed and marbleized fabrics, and antique spool cabinets overflow with specialty buttons, trims, notions and patterns. Later, we’ll travel to the Bavarian village of Fredericksburg to see the “gingerbread” houses and explore the shops of fine crafts and bakeries that specialize in strudels and German pretzels. B, D
Day 4
San Antonio – La Grange – Houston
Traveling to Houston, we’ll visit the Texas Quilt Museum where the vintage brick interiors of a 19th-century building display quilts from Texas and around the world. Put your creative inspiration to work browsing hundreds of bolts of fabric and an endless supply of yarn at The Quilted Skein, located just steps from the museum. Arrival in Houston has us checking into our luxury hotel located inside the Houston Galleria mall. Tonight, attend the much-anticipated Preview Night at Houston’s International Quilt Festival. B
Day 5
Houston
Our private shuttle brings us to opening day for the Quilt Festival’s dazzling displays of quilting and prize-winning quilts. Hundreds of merchants offer unique products from around the world: fabrics, notions, antiques, books, ribbons, buttons, wearable art, needlework supplies and more. Our experienced Quilt Festival guides will give you some insider tips to make sure you see and experience this bucket list quilt show. B
Day 6
Houston – Old Town Spring – Houston
Start your day back at the Quilt Festival admiring the hundreds of quilts that are proudly displayed for all to enjoy. Take a break this afternoon as we venture to the historic turn-of-the-century settlement of Old Town Spring where a variety of Victorian-style restaurants and quilt shops are ready to be explored. Tonight’s Farewell Dinner gives you a chance toast to your new friends. B, D
Day 7
Houston
This morning, visit the International Quilt Festival one last time, just in case there’s room left in that suitcase! Swap addresses with new friends before our afternoon airport transfer beginning the journey home. B
